From Human Capital to Organisational Capabilities:Enabling the Strategic Leap for HR and Business Leaders

Amidst the unprecedented global upheaval in a century, compounded by the profound impacts of the post-pandemic era, the international political and economic environment has become increasingly complex. Market competition continues to intensify, and cross-sector disruptions are emerging constantly. Simultaneously, technological waves—such as AI and generative technologies (e.g., ChatGPT), the Internet of Things, new energy sources, and new materials—are accelerating their evolution. The values and work styles of the new generation of employees are also continuously reshaping organisational logic. The intertwining of multiple internal and external variables presents enterprises with unprecedented uncertainties and challenges, while also nurturing significant opportunities for structural transformation and leapfrog development.
Against this backdrop, shifting from a focus solely on talent competition to systematically managing human capital and organisational capabilities has become a key factor in determining long-term competitiveness. Whether an organisation can effectively align strategy with execution depends on clear organisational design, effective incentive and collaboration mechanisms, and management and leadership approaches that activate individual and team potential. In such a complex and ever-changing environment, relying solely on traditional “Six Modules and Three Pillars” operations are no longer sufficient to meet enterprise development needs. HR managers and leadership must jointly elevate strategic vision and systemic thinking, actively participate in organisational development and strategy implementation, and drive continuous evolution and transformation.
In response to these challenges, the Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) programme was created. It systematically integrates cutting-edge interdisciplinary theories and practices from international fields such as human resource management, organisational development, change management, business management, and psychology. The curriculum is closely tailored to the realities and developmental needs of Chinese enterprises, guiding participants toward an overarching perspective of “managing human capital and organisational capabilities". Through a learning approach that combines theory and practice, students will achieve breakthroughs in cognitive height, systemic thinking, and professional depth, becoming key roles capable of supporting strategic implementation, activating organisational effectiveness, and leading transformative change.
Programme Design
By weaving the systemic view and methodologies of Organisation Development (OD) throughout the entire program design, integrated with business management perspectives and forward-looking lens towards digital and intelligent trends, interdisciplinary strengths are leveraged to elevate holistic practice of strategic HR Management.
